GREEN BUSINESS DIRECTORY

Workgroup Leader: Wendy Gorski

The Green Business Directory Workgroup is creating an online directory for customers to find local eco-conscious businesses. We are in the beginning stages of developing the directory, but the full launch is planned for 2021.

Sustainable Stillwater MN’s effort to kickstart not just a recovery, but a GREEN recovery — the Greater Stillwater Area Green Business Directory — is online at GreenStillwater.org!

The most ambitious project Sustainable Stillwater has ever launched is out of the starting gate, heading for a public debut in 2021. Do you know of local companies and organizations that meet or exceed standards for social and environmental responsibility? Send your suggestions to greenbiz@sustainablestillwatermn.org or better yet — tell the favorite businesses to apply directly at GreenStillwater.org.

We chose only the best to partner with us -- GreenAmerica.org - a national certification nonprofit. It's free for businesses to apply --  if they meet our criteria, qualified businesses receive free publicity, social media promotion, awards, and a free profile in the directory! Directory members will be reaching them all.

Congratulations to the following businesses that have applied and been certified for awards:

Lakeview Hospital (Gold)*
IPS-Solar (Gold)*
VistaTek/SelfEco (Gold)
Joseph’s Restaurant (Silver)
Valley Outreach (Silver)
ArtReach St. Croix (Bronze)
First Presbyterian Church (Bronze)
FamilyMeans (Bronze)

*Companies must qualify to be in the Directory if they wish to become sponsors of the Green Business Directory and Awards. Our two sponsors, Lakeview Hospital and IPS-Solar, exceeded our highest green standards!

For applicants that fall short of meeting our criteria, there is no worry about having that information go public. Only with a company's permission and attainment of an award level will a business's report card be made public. Assistance and grants are available from our partner organizations to make improvements and try again. We urge all businesses to apply -- there is nothing to lose! It's a win-win situation for the environment and our community.
