About the Event

Join Bird City Stillwater for the 2024 Annual Christmas Bird Count (CBC), hosted by the St. Paul Bird Alliance (formerly St. Paul Audubon). This exciting event offers bird lovers of all levels the chance to participate in the longest-running community science bird project in the United States, now over 100 years old!

The CBC provides valuable data that helps researchers monitor the health and status of bird populations across North America, informing important publications like Audubon's Climate Change Report and the State of Birds Report. As a volunteer, you’ll count every bird you see or hear, including each bird of a species. The results will be compiled and shared on the National Audubon Society website.

The count takes place on December 28th, rain or shine, so come prepared with appropriate cold-weather gear! You can participate by walking, driving, or watching from your feeders. Whether you're a seasoned birder or new to the hobby, all are welcome. If you’ve never participated in a CBC before, you may be assigned to accompany an experienced birder in zone 6.

To sign up or for more information, contact George at gjvania1@gmail.com for a spot within zone 6 or Jim Howitz at jlhror@aol.com for other zones. For additional questions, reach out to Allison McGinnis, Bird City Lead, at allison@sustainablestillwatermn.org.

We look forward to seeing you there and making a difference for bird conservation!
