Who We Are
Sustainable Stillwater MN (SSMN) was born from a 2013 community visioning session led by passionate local students who dreamed of a greener Stillwater. Officially launched in 2016 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2019, SSMN has been working ever since to build a more sustainable future — strengthening our local economy, protecting our environment, and empowering our community to thrive for generations to come.
Our Mission:
We create and support local initiatives that promote sustainability in the Stillwater, Minnesota area.
Our Promised Commitment
Official DEI Statement:
Sustainable Stillwater MN is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion. We strive to create a welcoming and safe environment where all voices are valued and equity is prioritized for lasting positive change.
Official Land Acknowledgment Statement:
Sustainable Stillwater MN acknowledges that we reside on the traditional and ancestral lands of the Dakhota and Ojibwe nations, as well as other Indigenous groups. We recognize the injustices Indigenous communities have faced, as well as their continued connection with this land. SSMN wishes to learn from their sustainable practices, and we pledge to actively ensure the protection and preservation of this land for future generations through similar, meaningful action.
Our Core Values
These are the basic, fundamental values for how we operate in all of the work that we do.
