ADOPTED CITY OF STILLWATER RESOLUTIONS

Sustainable Stillwater MN has helped the City of Stillwater pass multiple resolutions to improve our community and our natural environment. This list also includes resolutions that are support SSMN but were adopted without our help.

First-Generation Climate Action Plan

Passed May 2023

This first-generation Climate Action Plan is just the starting point, and we view it as a "living document" that will be updated and improved as we continue to work with various community partners, such as Sustainable Stillwater MN, and gather more information. Our process will be iterative and focused on continuously improving our efforts. We will define the problem, measure the issue, analyze the data we collect, and work towards finding solutions. 

BIKE MONTH PROCLAMATION

Proclamation May 16th 2023

Throughout the month of May, the City of Stillwater will celebrate biking and the freedom, the joy, and the well‐being it imbues within us, as well as the power that more people riding bikes has in making life better for everyone.

NO MOW MAY PROCLAMATION

Proclamation February 7th 2023

The City Council Directs staff to suspend nuisance ordinance citations for turf high during the month of May in order to permit all residents to voluntarily delay lawn mowing which could result in ground cover and turg that exceeds established ordinance height restrictions and that beginning on June 1st, nuisance ordinance enforcement will resume and may result in a citation for a code violation.

BIRD MIGRATION AWARENESS & LIGHTS OUT MONTHS PROCLAMATION

Proclamation September 2022

The Mayor of the City of Stillwater, Ted Kozlowski, proclaimed March through May and August through October as Bird Migration Awareness and Lights Out Months, for Bird Migratory Awareness!

BICYCLE FRIENDLY RESOLUTION

Resolution 2021-086

The Stillwater City Council supports Sustainable Stillwater in its efforts to make Stillwater a bicycle-friendly community and will consider requests from Sustainable Stillwater in the development of an action plan for bicycle-friendly communities. Adopted by the Stillwater City Council on July 6th, 2021.

BIRD CITY CERTIFICATION

Bird City Minnesota 2021

Bird City communities are recognized for meeting at least 8 of the 19 criteria including 1 required action and 7 best practices in 3 categories as specified on the application.

GREEN BUSINESS DIRECTORY RESOLUTION

Resolution 2021-077

The City of Stillwater supports Sustainable Stillwater in its efforts in creating and providing a Green Business Directory and encourages residents and businesses to use it. Adopted by the Stillwater City Council June 1st, 2021.

COMPLETE STREETS RESOLUTION

Resolution 2021-038

The Council intends for Complete Streets to be achieved throughout the City of Stillwater project by project, where practical and feasible, consistently drawing on all possible funding sources. Adopted by Stillwater City Council on March 16th, 2021.

SUSTAINABLE PURCHASING POLICY RESOLUTION

Resolution 2019-140

The City Council of the City of Stillwater hereby adopts the sustainable purchasing policy for municipal government purchases. Adopted by the Stillwater City Council December 3rd, 2019.

SOLAR GARDEN SUBSCRIPTION WITH SUNRISE CSG, LLC

Resolution 2019-128 (passed without SSMN)

The City Council of the City of Stillwater hereby approves the Solar Garden Subscription Agreement between the city of Stillwater and Sunrise CSG, LLC. Enacted by the City Council of City of Stillwater on October 15th, 2019.

SOLAR GARDEN SUBSCRIPTION WITH RENESOLA ENERGY, INC.

Resolution 2018-195 (passed without SSMN)

The City Council of the City of Stillwater hereby approves the Solar Garden Subscription Agreement between the City of Stillwater and ReneSola Energy, Inc. Enacted by the City Council of the City of Stillwater on September 4th, 2018.

GREENSTEP PARTICIPATION RESOLUTION

Resolution 2018-165

The city council of the city of Stillwater does hereby authorize the City of Stillwater to participate in the Minnesota GreenStep Cities program. Passage of this participation resolution allows the city to be recognized as a Step One GreenStep City. Enacted by the City Council of the City of Stillwater on July 31st, 2018.

POLLINATOR FRIENDLY RESOLUTION

Resolution 2015-061 (Passed without SSMN)

The City of Stillwater encourages healthy environments including food sources, clean water, and shelter for pollinators through existing programs and new opportunties. Adopted by the City Council of the City of Stillwater on April 7th, 2015.
