PILLAR:
Transportation

Pillar Captain:

Rick Heidick

Encourages alternative modes of transportation to lower emissions and improve mobility.

The Transportation Pillar focuses on promoting sustainable and alternative modes of transportation within Stillwater and surrounding communities. By reducing reliance on internal combustion engines, we aim to foster a culture and infrastructure that supports biking, walking, electric vehicles (EVs), and other eco-friendly transit options. This pillar advocates for safer, more accessible transportation methods that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve public health, and enhance mobility.

Pillar Goals:

Our goal is to reduce dependence on internal combustion engines by promoting alternative transportation options such as biking, walking, and electric vehicles. Together, we can create a healthier, greener community.

Program:
Alternative Transportation

This program aims to encourage safer, more accessible non-motorized travel options, helping to reduce emissions and improve public health.

Projects:

Bicycle Friendly Community Education

This initiative will engage residents through educational materials and events that promote safe biking practices and highlight the environmental, health, and economic benefits of cycling

Complete Streets

The Complete Streets initiative works to ensure all streets are designed for the safety and comfort of all users, not just cars. By integrating biking and pedestrian-friendly features into the design of our roads, we can improve mobility for everyone.

Bicycle Friendly Community Street Marking

This project aims to enhance local biking infrastructure by installing clear and safe bike lanes, improving overall accessibility for cyclists in Stillwater.

Electric Vehicle Chargers

This project seeks to install more electric vehicle charging stations throughout the Stillwater area, encouraging EV adoption and helping to reduce emissions.
