Thanks to everyone who brought bikes to the city-wide bike collection yesterday. Our primary sponsor was Lakeview Hospital and we received approximately 150 bikes yesterday. Half of the bikes received were sent to Express Bikes in St. Paul for refurbishment and sold at discounted prices. The other half of the bikes were sent to Bikes4Kids in Ham Lake. These bikes will also be refurbished and given to kids needing bikes.
These efforts to recycle/regenerate bicycles in Stillwater and working to provide access to bicycles to those who may not currently have it are a part of our continuing Bicycle Friendly Community effort in Stillwater.
The bike collection was primarily sponsored by Lakeview Hospital and is one of a series of events coordinated through the Collaborative Youth Cycling Initiative (CYCI) with the following organizations:
