COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Sustainable Stillwater MN is looking for a technology expert to help maintain, manage, and grow our communications with the community. Creating connections is important in keeping our relationship strong and transparent with the public.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

As our communication and information technology specialist, you will help SSMN by managing all internal and external communication of the organization. You will be expected to manage SSMN's website, social media accounts, promotional material, and Google Workspace. This would entail creating graphics, writing social media and blog posts, compiling publications, designing promotional materials, promoting events on various platforms, and more.

    - WIX Websites
    - Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.
    - Canva graphic design
    - Adobe PDF
    - Facebook and Instagram

WORK SETTING, LENGTH, AND COMPENSATION

  • Work will be a combination of remote and in the field

  • Lots of flexibility in this position

  • Hourly rate: $20.00

  • Hours/week: 10 hours maximum (3-5 hours average)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Live within 15 miles of Stillwater, Minnesota

  • Access to the internet and a computer

COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Work closely with Admin & Program Manager to develop content.

  • Lead Communication Meetings with the BOD communications committee.

  • Create graphics/text and schedule social media posts.

  • Interacting with public social media posts 

  • Create/update templates for board members and workgroup leaders.

  • Create/update SSMN Style Guide when needed.

  • Create postings on SSMN’s blog - original content and content shared by SSMN volunteers.

  • Newsletters - develop layout, send to subscribers, and make newsletter available on website.

  • Update/manage SSMN's website.

  • Create Flyers/posters for the events.

  • Design, create, and print outreach material like brochures, pamphlets, stickers, bookmarks, signup sheets, business cards, postcards for our various events, banners, posters, etc.

  • Add and promote all new events on SSMN's website and various other platforms.

  • Manage SSMN's Google Workspace.

  • Attend outreach event/booth (if needed).
