About the Event
Hosted by the Washington County Environmental Center, the Garden Tool Swap is a free, community-centered event designed to give gently used gardening supplies a second life. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just getting started, this swap offers a chance to pick up useful tools and supplies—without spending a dime. Attendees can browse a variety of items such as hand tools, shovels, rakes, birdfeeders, ceramic pots, and clean gloves, all while helping reduce waste and support local reuse efforts.
The event is open to everyone, and no donation is required to participate. Each person may take up to three items, and any remaining materials will be donated locally to continue supporting the community. Donations of usable garden and yard tools are accepted in advance through May 2 at both the North and South Environmental Centers.

Sustainable Stillwater MN proudly promotes swap events like this because they embody the principles of reuse, waste reduction, and community connection. By exchanging items instead of discarding them, these events help conserve resources, reduce landfill waste, and make sustainable choices more accessible and affordable. Swap events are a simple, tangible way for individuals to participate in a circular economy—keeping usable goods in circulation and strengthening community ties in the process.
