Sustainable Stillwater MN Statement of Support for the City’s Energy Action Initiative:
Sustainable Stillwater MN is thrilled to support the City of Stillwater’s Energy Action efforts in every way we can. We are deeply grateful to live in a community that cares about its future and takes thoughtful, proactive steps to address our energy needs.
We are especially encouraged to see broad representation from across the community, including businesses and local leaders, working together on this initiative. The inclusion of Xcel Energy as a partner through the Partners in Energy program gives us great optimism that we can achieve meaningful results that enhance the quality of life for everyone in Stillwater.
Stillwater’s Energy Action Plan sets ambitious goals: educating residents and businesses, reducing emissions, strengthening energy resiliency, and preserving the city’s unique historic character. Targets include saving 3.8 million kWh of electricity and 198,000 therms of natural gas by 2025, while avoiding 58% of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions. This plan demonstrates what’s possible when a community comes together.
