About the Event

What if "away" isn’t far enough? Discover where your trash truly goes and its impact at this live Zoom event with environmental justice leader Krystle D'Alencar.

This live Zoom event, held on January 21, 2025, will feature Krystle D'Alencar, an organizer focused on community-led solutions to environmental justice issues. Krystle has been working to shut down the Hennepin Energy Recovery Center (HERC) incinerator in Minneapolis, which has negatively impacted the health of North Minneapolis residents for over 30 years. They will also discuss where Ramsey County’s trash ends up and the broader implications of waste systems on frontline communities. Attendees will gain insights into the connections between waste, environmental justice, and the climate crisis, as well as actionable steps for change.

This event is cohosted by Northeast Metro Climate Action, Vadnais Heights Green Team, Northwest Metro Climate Action, Climate Justice Team of St. Croix Valley Indivisible, Indivisible North Metro Environment Team, Resilient Roseville, and Vote Climate.
