About the Event

Recycling Electronic for Climate Action (RECA) is a coalition that is working to pass a bill that will provide free electronic recycling to all Minnesotans, and work toward collecting 100% of our e-waste. This could be one solution to fighting climate change.

E-waste makes up the majority of the toxic material in our landfills and incinerators today, exposing our communities to toxins such as mercury, lead, cadmium barium, dioxins, and polychlorinated biphenyls. Most electronic waste thrown out today ends up in landfills, meaning these materials have the chance to end up in our crop soil, and our drinking water.

In Minnesota alone, the value of metals and materials that could be mined from electronic waste has an estimated value of over $2.8 billion annually.
