Still Water, Living Lake

Hosted by Brown's Creek Watershed District, Still Water, Living Lake is a free, family-friendly community gathering that celebrates the remarkable recovery of Long Lake through the lens of art, ecology, and environmental stewardship. In partnership with A House Unbuilt and featuring the work of artists Jennifer Awes Freeman, Playdoh Kolo, and Sharon Mansur, this unique event brings together science, creativity, and community to tell the story of a lake's restoration.

The two access locations for the event will be:

• Between 724 and 716 Nightingale Blvd

• Between 832 Nightingale Blvd and 2900 Marine Circle

Once impaired by excess nutrients and poor water quality, Long Lake has improved from an F grade to a B+ over the past decade thanks to restoration efforts, community partnerships, and the resilience of nature. Throughout the day, visitors can participate in hands-on art activities, create nature-inspired puppets and prints, enjoy a guided contemplative walk along the shoreline, and meet watershed biologists who will share live examples of the aquatic plants helping restore the lake's ecosystem. Together, these experiences invite participants of all ages to explore how healthy watersheds support thriving communities and how each of us can play a role in protecting our local environment.
