C-Change Conversations: Coming Together for Climate Conversations

Sometimes the most meaningful conversations happen when people with different experiences and perspectives come together to learn.

As part of Valley Climate Action Week, Sustainable Stillwater MN hosted C-Change Conversations on September 14 at the Woodbury Central Park Amphitheater. Despite a cold, rainy evening, about 55 community members came together for a science-based, nonpartisan presentation exploring the fundamentals of climate change and what they mean for our health, economy, communities, and future generations.

The program was designed to encourage respectful dialogue and practical understanding rather than political debate. Whether attendees were just beginning to learn about climate change or looking to deepen their knowledge, the evening offered an approachable way to better understand the science and consider meaningful actions.

The event was also a great example of what can happen when organizations work together. SSMN partnered with Woodbury Green Talks, the City of Woodbury, and the East Metro Eco-Faith Collaborative to bring an out-of-state speaker, Kathleen Biggins, to the St. Croix Valley and East Metro.

And the conversation didn’t end when the presentation did. Attendees stayed afterward for questions and discussion, with the overall response described as very positive. While a few attendees felt the program ran a little long, the fact that people stayed through the end — and continued the conversation afterward — showed the level of interest in the topic.

Beyond the evening itself, the event helped strengthen connections among regional sustainability organizations, introduced more people to SSMN and its mission, and created new relationships that can continue beyond Valley Climate Action Week.

A special thank-you goes to our partners for the tremendous amount of work they put into making the evening possible. C-Change Conversations was a great reminder that creating space for learning, listening, and conversation can be a powerful form of action.
