Stillwater Community Development Director Tim Gladhill is sending some staff members to the October 6 Annual City County Climate Action Conference in Minneapolis in order to learn more about climate action plans. Some 40 cities that already have climate action plans will share their accomplishments with low-carbon buildings, energy, transportation, resilience, equity, green jobs, and zero waste. Gladhill says there is also the possibility a climate plan might be tucked into next year's budget before it's finalized in December.
Gladhill gave us this statement about the city's progress to address a changing climate: "A Climate Action Plan is still in active discussions. However, the City desires to see additional project partners in order to move forward."
We will continue working with city staff members to see if we can find project partners for them or locate state funding.
