What happens when you bring together AARP, BikeMN, Chilkoot Cyclery, and a group of curious riders? A great conversation about the future of biking!

On August 12, Sustainable Stillwater MN co-hosted an E-Bike Class at Trinity Lutheran Church, bringing together about 20 attendees to learn how e-bikes can be a practical, accessible transportation option as we age.
AARP shared why e-bikes can help people stay mobile and active, while BikeMN covered the basics—from different types of e-bikes to Minnesota laws and regulations. Chilkoot Cyclery brought two e-bike models for attendees to check out up close, sparking plenty of questions about the technology, features, and cost.
While attendance was smaller than hoped, the group that showed up was engaged, curious, and full of questions. The hands-on conversation with Chilkoot Cyclery was a particular highlight, and both AARP and BikeMN noted the strong participation.
The event was also a great first step toward connecting more people with information about e-bikes as a transportation option. With a little more lead time and targeted outreach—especially to older adults—we hope to bring this conversation back for a second class in the future.
Thanks to AARP, BikeMN, and Chilkoot Cyclery for helping us get the wheels turning!
