July Update on the Solar for Cimarron Project

We are excited to share an update on the Solar for Cimarron project, spearheaded by our dedicated volunteer, Linda Countryman. This initiative aims to enroll 30 households in solar subscriptions by August 1st, and we are thrilled to announce that we have reached the halfway mark.

Linda presented the latest progress at the recent board meeting, highlighting both achievements and challenges. Four enthusiastic kids have stepped up to assist with distributing flyers and providing support during community outreach efforts. Their involvement has been instrumental in our progress.

One significant hurdle has been ensuring clear communication about how the solar project works. To address this, Linda has developed a new flyer (English, Espanol) specifically designed to resonate with the Latino community in Cimarron. Gaining the trust of residents is paramount, and these tailored efforts are making a noticeable difference.

A generous Rotary grant is helping to incentivize participation by providing $50 gift cards and covering registration fees for those who sign up. This has proven to be an effective strategy, as families recognize the tangible benefits of subscribing to the solar project. Signing up not only supports sustainability but also offers participants a 10% savings on their energy bills.

Linda has found that working through the kids/teen center operated by Family Means is particularly effective for distributing flyers and establishing connections with Cimarron residents. The personal touch and trust built through these interactions are crucial to the project's success.

We are optimistic about reaching our goal by August 1st and are grateful for the support of the Cimarron community. Thank you to everyone involved, especially the kids and teens who are playing a vital role in this initiative.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to advance this important project and work towards a sustainable future for all.
