Next Bend Birding stands alone as the only birding guide in the U.S. certified as a Green Business — a remarkable achievement that reflects Kyle’s commitment to operating in harmony with the planet. He has eliminated air travel from his tours, drives a hybrid vehicle, and offsets all operations to remain carbon-neutral. Waste is minimized, and education about sustainable travel is woven into every experience he leads.

Kyle’s dedication extends far beyond business. At home in Stillwater Township, he and his wife live by example — using geothermal energy, maintaining pollinator gardens, and restoring natural habitat on their property. Over the past five years, he has donated more than $22,000 — over 10% of his gross income — to environmental and social justice causes. He also volunteers locally with Bird City Stillwater, Earth Day festivals, and community nature events.
