This year’s Earth Week Bike Drive at HealthPartners Clinic – Stillwater was an absolute blast—and a resounding success! Hosted in partnership with Lakeview Hospital / HealthPartners and our amazing Sustainable Stillwater MN crew, we collected a whopping 133 bicycles on April 22!

Since we kicked off this annual tradition three years ago, we've now rescued and repurposed over 530 bikes. That’s 530 chances for joy, freedom, and sustainability on two wheels! 🌍💚
Here’s where the wheels are headed:
Express Bike Shop (Keystone Community Services): 79 bikesYouth apprentices in St. Paul will refurbish and sell them at discounted prices, gaining valuable job skills and giving the bikes a second life.
Bikes4Kids (B4K): 47 bikesThese beauties are being tuned up and given away to kids and families who need a ride. Some are even headed to local youth through our friends at FamilyMeans.
We also collected:
3 sets of training wheels
A couple small boxes of bike parts
And tons of community love
Heartwarming moments? You bet:
One dad spotted a donated Lakeview employee bike and immediately knew it was perfect for his special needs child. He was so moved, that he returned later with two bikes to donate himself. 🥹💞
One kiddo tried out a whole lineup of bikes until he found “the one.” Talk about a magical match!
Huge shoutout to our superstar SSMN volunteers:
Roger Tomten, Linda Countryman, Chris Thorson, and Mike Lyner – who not only helped run the event but also brought the Stillwater High School Mountain Bike Team trailer to haul bikes like champs. You rock!
And thanks to Taylor Maatta and the whole Lakeview/HealthPartners team for the incredible coordination and community spirit. Let’s keep the wheels turning!
