Despite the unpredictable weather, Bird Fest 2024 soared to success! The skies might have opened up with rain and hail, but our spirits were undampened as we set up not once, but multiple times to ensure the show could go on. A huge shoutout to The Raptor Center and our dedicated volunteers who didn’t let a little wet weather ruffle their feathers—thank you for sticking it out and making this event memorable!
Held at Browns Creek Park on September 21st, this free, family-friendly event brought together nature lovers of all ages to celebrate and learn about birds and their habitats. Hosted by Brown’s Creek Watershed District and Sustainable Stillwater MN's Bird City, the day was packed with interactive activities, educational booths, and plenty of entertainment.
Highlights of the Day - The Raptor Show:Â The rain might have come down, but spirits soared during the thrilling raptor show, where visitors witnessed majestic birds up close.
Brown’s Creek Watershed District also kept everyone entertained with games, prizes, and even live reptiles and amphibians! The University of Minnesota's lawn care experts were on hand with eco-friendly tips, and the fly fishing station provided a chance for visitors to try out their casting skills. Families enjoyed live music and free ice cream, rounding out a perfect (if soggy) day in nature.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the dedication of our incredible volunteers. Their passion for protecting wildlife and commitment to community shines through rain or shine—thank you for your hard work and perseverance!
While the weather may have tested us, Bird Fest 2024 proved that our community’s love for nature and wildlife remains unwavering. We can’t wait to see you all again next year—hopefully, with clearer skies!
