Brining the Climate Experience to DaVinci Fest

On Saturday, January 24, 2026, Sustainable Stillwater MN (SSMN) was proud to participate in DaVinci Fest, an annual celebration of science and art that highlights the creativity, innovation, and talents of youth across the St. Croix River Valley.

DaVinci Fest invites all students living within the Stillwater Area Public School District, regardless of where they attend school, to showcase their ideas and imagination. In the afternoon, the event expands into a regional art and science experience, welcoming families and community members to explore interactive educational exhibits and demonstrations from local organizations and partners. Despite the frigid temperatures, the warmth of community spirit was unmistakable.

Sustainable Stillwater MN board members, staff, volunteers, and partner organizations came together to create a vibrant and engaging Climate Experience.

MN GreenCorps and AmeriCorps volunteers from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) hosted three interactive tables focused on climate education. SSMN Board Chair Rick shared information on sustainable transportation, complete streets, and bike safety, while board members Nancy, Scott, and Clayton, along with staff Andi and Kelsey, encouraged visitors to volunteer and sign up for the Clean Energy Challenge, while handing out popcorn.

Volunteers from our Land & Water Stewardship Program engaged families with hands-on learning about rain gardens and shared seeds to take home. We were also grateful to partner with Hannah Peterson from the Brown’s Creek Watershed District, who provided valuable watershed education.

In addition, board members Sirid and Scott served as judges, supporting and celebrating student creativity throughout the festival.

DaVinci Fest 2026 was a wonderful day of community, embracing science and the arts on a cold winter day. We extend sincere thanks to The Partnership Plan staff—Julie, Sara, and Rick—as well as Stillwater Area Public Schools for organizing such an incredible event. We were grateful to be part of it and to share the Climate Experience with so many engaged students and community members.

Together, we continue building a more sustainable, connected, and inspired Stillwater.
