Who is helping create a healthier, more sustainable future for the St. Croix Valley?
Perhaps it’s a business investing in energy efficiency, a volunteer restoring local habitat, a teacher inspiring young environmental leaders, or a public official advancing climate-forward policy.
Maybe it’s a neighborhood group, nonprofit, or community coalition quietly making a difference year after year.
Now is the time to recognize them.
Sustainable Stillwater MN is accepting nominations for the 2026 Sustainability Leadership Award—but the August 20 deadline is approaching quickly. Please nominate a deserving local leader today.

Celebrating Leadership That Creates Lasting Change
The Sustainability Leadership Award recognizes individuals, organizations, businesses, and groups whose commitment and actions are advancing sustainability across the St. Croix Valley.
Recognizing this work does more than honor individual accomplishments. It raises the visibility of local solutions, inspires others to act, and strengthens the network of people working toward a more resilient and sustainable region.
Nominees may come from any sector, including business, nonprofit, government, education, or community life. Strong candidates will:
Demonstrate long-term dedication to sustainability through action and advocacy.
Show measurable impact in areas such as climate action, green infrastructure, clean energy, environmental policy, equity, education, materials reuse and recovery, electric vehicle infrastructure, local food systems, transportation alternatives, or the local green economy.
Be active in—or have a clear and sustained impact on—the St. Croix Valley area.
Inspire others and model best practices in environmental stewardship and community leadership.
Who Could You Nominate?
Think broadly about the people and groups creating positive change around you. A nominee might be:
A local business transforming its operations to become more energy efficient.
A volunteer leading community cleanups, habitat restoration, or native planting projects.
A public official championing forward-looking environmental policies.
A teacher or youth leader instilling sustainability values in the next generation.
A neighborhood group or coalition developing innovative community solutions.
Sustainability leadership takes many forms. Some leaders are highly visible, while others work steadily behind the scenes. All of their contributions matter—and your nomination can help ensure their work is seen and celebrated.
Submit Your Nomination Today
Anyone may submit a nomination through our official form. Finalists will be selected by the Sustainability Awards Team, and up to three Sustainability Leadership Awards may be presented at the team’s discretion.
Award recipients will be honored during Celebration of Science & Sustainability on Thursday, September 17, 2026, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at The Loft Venue, 214 S. Main St., Stillwater, Minnesota.
Please don’t assume someone else will submit the nomination. If a person, business, organization, or community group came to mind as you read this, take action today.
