Growing Better Habitat, One Conversation at a Time

Earlier this month, Sustainable Stillwater MN's Bird City Program was proud to participate in Landscape Revival, an outreach event hosted by the St. Paul Bird Alliance in Lake Elmo.

Throughout the day, our Bird City Program Leader, Allison McGinnis, connected with approximately 75 attendees from across Minnesota and Wisconsin, sharing why native plants play such an important role in supporting birds and pollinators.

Native plants and pollinators have evolved together over thousands of years, creating relationships that help both thrive. In turn, healthy pollinator populations provide food for birds, while native plants also produce the fruits and seeds many bird species rely on throughout the year.

Beyond collecting new contacts and making valuable community connections, the event sparked meaningful conversations about transforming traditional lawns into vibrant habitats that support local wildlife. Every native garden planted is another step toward healthier ecosystems and more resilient communities.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat, ask questions, and learn how small changes in our landscapes can make a big difference for birds.
