Thank You, Mark Schwantes, for Keeping Stillwater Clean!

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to Mark Schwantes for his dedication and care in helping keep downtown Stillwater beautiful and litter-free. For years, Mark volunteered his time and energy to empty the cigarette butt containers and clean up litter around them—ensuring sidewalks, streets, and storm drains stayed clear of toxic debris that could otherwise end up in our beloved St. Croix River.

A 25-year resident of Stillwater, Mark says his work with Sustainable Stillwater MN helped him see the local environment in a new light. “I liked the simple fact that there would be less trash possibly reaching our amazing river,” Mark shared. We love that, too.

Now retired from the construction industry for 16 years, Mark stays active by coaching alpine skiing at Stillwater Area High School, boating on the river, and biking the area's scenic trails. We’re so grateful for his spirit of service and the impact he’s made.
