Bird City Stillwater Helps Restore Habitat at Lumberjack Landing

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, volunteers from across the Stillwater area gathered under cloudy skies—but thankfully dry weather!—to make a difference for our local ecosystem at the Green River Greening Lumberjack Landing restoration event. The event was a collaborative effort between Bird City Stillwater, the City of Stillwater, and Great River Greening.

About 35 dedicated community members rolled up their sleeves to tackle invasive species like buckthorn and planted 50 climate-resilient bare root trees. These new trees will help strengthen the riverside habitat and support the diverse bird populations that rely on this green corridor along the St. Croix River.

This hands-on conservation effort was part of our broader Bird City Stillwater initiative, which aims to protect and promote bird-friendly environments through habitat restoration, public education, and partnerships like this one.

A huge thank you to everyone who showed up, dug deep, and planted with purpose! Your work is helping to build a more resilient, biodiverse Stillwater for generations to come.
