Pedal for the Planet 2026

As part of Valley Climate Action Week, Sustainable Stillwater MN hosted Pedal for the Planet on September 16 with Herman’s Bike Rental. The short community ride was designed to highlight how choosing active transportation can support our health, reduce emissions, and make getting around town a little more fun.

While attendance was small, the six riders who joined us had a great time exploring Stillwater by bike — including trying out electric bikes. In fact, the ride was inspiring enough that one SSMN team member left thinking seriously about adding an e-bike to their own transportation options!

A big thank-you goes to Matt at Herman’s Bike Rental, who kept the shop open later than usual and offered discounts to participants renting e-bikes. We’re grateful for partners who help make sustainable transportation more accessible and approachable.

For now, we’ll call this ride a success: a few people got on bikes, had some fun, and experienced firsthand that getting around town can be part of the adventure. 🚲🌎
