VCAW DAY 3 — WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2026
Transportation Day: Moving Toward a Cleaner Future
Ready to get moving? Wednesday is Transportation Day during Valley Climate Action Week, highlighting the ways our transportation choices connect to our health, environment, and communities.
You can literally move through the day with VCAW—starting with a community bike ride and ending with an evening exploring the power of personal stories.

5:30–6:30 PM | Herman Electric Bike Rental
Grab your bike and join Sustainable Stillwater MN for Pedal for the Planet, a relaxed, family-friendly community ride through Stillwater.
The evening begins with a bicycle safety review and pre-ride activities before longtime cycling advocate Rick Heidick leads riders on an easy route through the city. The ride lasts about 30 minutes and is designed for cyclists of all ages and experience levels.
Families, individuals, and seasoned cyclists are all welcome. Just bring your bicycle and helmet—and consider wearing bright green to celebrate cleaner transportation!
The ride finishes at Matt’s Basement, where riders can continue the evening at the next VCAW event.
7–9 PM | Matt’s Basement
At 7 PM, join us for The Power of Climate Storytelling, an evening exploring how our personal experiences and connections to place can inspire hope and meaningful climate action.
Jothsna Harris and Arian Tomar will lead presentations and conversation focused on climate storytelling, filmmaking, community engagement, and the ways stories can help people connect with environmental issues on a human level.
You don’t need to be a climate expert—or a storyteller—to attend. If you’re curious about climate, community, meaningful conversations, or the role our own experiences play in shaping how we see the world, this evening is for you.
Doors open at 6:30 PM, so there’s time to grab a beverage and connect with others before the program begins. And if you’re participating in Pedal for the Planet, you’re encouraged to ride directly to the storytelling event.
Why it’s part of VCAW
Transportation is about more than getting from one place to another. It’s about how we design our communities, how we connect with one another, and the choices we make every day.
Wednesday brings those ideas to life through movement and storytelling—two simple ways to connect people with place and inspire action.
There’s still room to join us. Bring your bike, bring your curiosity, and spend Wednesday moving toward a cleaner future.
